Summer signing Lucas Torreira looked to be the man who had solved Arsenal’s problem of a lack of bite in midfield after a series of strong displays in the first half of the season – most notably scoring in December’s North London Derby, a 4-2 win over bitter rivals Tottenham. But the season ended on a sour note for the former Serie A star, finding himself hauled off early in the Europa League final as the Gunners succumbed to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea.
