Mikel Arteta slams VAR over Eddie Nketiah red card and Jamie Vardy incident
Mikel Arteta praised his Arsenal side for their performance in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City but criticised VAR’s decision to send off Eddie Nketiah, claiming Jamie Vardy should have been given his marching orders earlier in the game. The Gunners should have been out of sight at half-time against the Foxes but only had a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang strike to show for their efforts at the break. Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel kept Arsenal at bay with a string of fine saves before the interval, twice denying Alexandre Lacazette as well as Bukayo Saka - and it proved to be a vital contribution.
