Arsenal allow Mesut Ozil to join Fenerbahce but keep clever clause in contract

Arsenal reportedly sold Mesut Ozil to Fenerbahce on a free transfer, entitling them to future payments from the Turkish outfit. Ozil left the Emirates having been frozen out by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, not featuring on the pitch since March. He has joined Fenerbahce, with it being believed that Ozil had his Arsenal contract terminated to allow the move. Though it seems that was not the case with The Athletic reporting that the move was in fact a free transfer. And, because of that, it’s reported that the Gunners could be entitled to future bonuses from Fenerbahce following the move.
