Arsene Wenger revealed following our Emirates Cup triumph that while reports claiming Theo Walcott had signed a new long-term contract were premature, the England forward is close to agreeing a new deal (via Arsenal Player). Walcott is out of contract next summer (via the Mirror) and his latest contractual situation is reminiscent of his previous one back in 2013, where it seemed highly likely that he would leave the club on a free transfer. However, the Mirror this week claimed that the 26-year-old had put pen to paper on a new four-year deal, which Wenger confirmed not to be the case. Either way, it seems like Walcott will be committing his long-term future to the club very soon....
