It's happening already: two Arsenal centre backs ruled out of preseason tour
That didn't take long did it? Arsenal's injury woes have kicked in already with Per Mertesacker set to miss the clubs preseason tour of United States of America after sustaining a knee injury, while Gabriel misses out due to Tonsillitis (via Arsenal's official website). That means Arsenal travel with just one recognised ‘senior' centre back in Calum Chambers, while new signing Rob Holding is almost certain to make his debut against either MLS All-Stars or Chivas. Nacho Monreal and Mathieu Debuchy may well provide cover at centre half on the tour, with Laurent Koscielny still absent after his long stint in the Euro 2016 finals with France.
