Ozil is reportedly yet to sign a contract extension with the club and his current deal runs out in 2018, which has led to speculation that he may be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium if a deal is not concluded quickly. Should he leave, the Gunners will be losing a World Cup-winning midfielder, but clearly they feel that signing Reus from Borussia Dortmund would help fill any void potentially left. Why not both?
