Alexis Sanchez sits out Arsenal's trip to Watford following his international exploits with Chile.

The attacker only returned from international duty on Thursday and is therefore rested and replaced by Danny Welbeck, who returns from a groin injury, in one of four changes to the side that beat Brighton & Hove Albion last time out.

Injured Aaron Ramsey is absent and Rob Holding drops to the bench, while Shkodran Mustafi misses out due to a thigh strain picked up playing for Germany. Coming in are Laurent Koscielny, Mohamed Elneny and Per Mertesacker.

Hosts Watford have made three alterations to the side that drew 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion before the international break.

Miguel Britos, Roberto Pereyra and Andre Gray come in as the Hornets switch from a four-man backline to a back three.

Etienne Capoue, Andre Carrillo - returning from international duty with Colombia - and Troy Deeney are the men to make way and take up residence on the bench.

Watford: Gomes; Kabasele, Mariappa, Britos; Femenia, Doucoure, Cleverley, Holebas; Pereyra, Gray, Richarlison
Subs: Karnezis, Wague, Janmaat, Watson, Capoue, Carrillo, Deeney

Arsenal: Cech; Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal; Bellerin, Elneny, Xhaka, Kolasinac; Iwobi, Welbeck; Lacazette
