Martin Keown expects Mesut Ozil to leave Arsenal in January

Martin Keown slams Mesut Ozil for costing Arsenal all three points in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Watford and expects the Germany star to depart the club in January.

Martin Keown has criticised Mesut Ozil for costing Arsenal all three points in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Watford and expects the German to depart the club in January.

The midfielder came on as a second-half substitute but wasted a golden opportunity to put the Gunners two goals up after failing to score with just Heurelho Gomes to beat.

Moments later the Hornets equalised through a controversial penalty but Ozil then failed to close down in the midfield during stoppage time in the build-up to the hosts' winning goal.

"I feel [Ozil] was at fault for the late goal conceded," the former Arsenal defender told BT Sport.

"I don't know whether there is a future for him now in this Arsenal team and I know it looks like I'm coming for him all the time but he really should have finished the game off.

"He's just missed an opportunity to win the game for Arsenal and everything that happens afterwards wouldn't have happened. I don't know if he cares enough or not but he's certainly not ruthless enough.

"There's only one outcome isn't there? When it comes to January surely Ozil will be gone."

The Gunners sit sixth in the Premier League table following the game at Vicarage Road.
