Arsene Wenger confesses to having concerns over Henrikh Mkhitaryan's mindset after being shipped out of Manchester United, where he failed to make an impression.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is 'worried' about just how affected Henrikh Mkhitaryan is following his failed move to Manchester United.

The Armenian playmaker was shipped out of Old Trafford this week after just one full campaign at the club, used as a makeweight in a deal to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.

While Wenger is concerned about Mkhitaryan's state of mind, having been frozen out by Jose Mourinho for the majority of this season, the long-serving Gunners manager is confident that he is the right man to get the best out of his latest recruit over time.

"Of course you worry about how much it has affected him," he is quoted as saying by The Sun. "I might have to analyse with him how things went in the past, what we can do and how we can help him.

"But this is a new chance for him, which is what everyone wants in life. And I'm sure that, with his quality, he will take it. He has the qualities to integrate into our technical game and he has a good team attitude, so I am confident it will work.

"It's not just about buying players for huge amounts of money, where it's only about the millions and not so much about values. It's about having players in your team who care about your club, who have a sense of belonging and pride."

Mkhitaryan bows out of United with a record of six assists and five goals in 39 Premier League appearances, 26 of those being starts.
