Hodgson: 'Arsenal nowhere near Zaha valuation'

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson confirms that Arsenal are still a long way short of the £80m asking price for winger Wilfried Zaha.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Arsenal remain a long way short of Wilfried Zaha's asking price.

The 26-year-old is understood to be the Gunners' top attacking transfer target this summer, but Palace's £80m valuation of the winger is almost double Arsenal's entire transfer budget.

Reports earlier this month suggested that Arsenal had tried their luck with a £40m bid for Zaha - an approach which angered Palace, who felt it was a deliberate attempt to unsettle the player.

"I don't think Arsenal have actually made a bid that has come anywhere near our valuation," Hodgson is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"I'm sure the player realises that if someone's going to take him away from us, he'll expect clubs to pay the market value. Until someone does that, there's not much to discuss regarding Wilf."

Palace have already sold Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United for £50m this summer and are therefore under no pressure to lower their demands for Zaha.
