Arsenal reportedly make contact with former Valencia manager Marcelino over the prospect of becoming the club's next manager.

Arsenal have reportedly made contact with former Valencia manager Marcelino over the prospect of becoming the club's next manager.

The Gunners are on the search for a new permanent boss following the decision to sack Unai Emery, with Freddie Ljungberg taking over as interim coach.

Reports have claimed that Marcelino arrived in London on Sunday amid rumours claiming that he was a candidate for the managerial role at Arsenal.

According to ESPN, the Spaniard spoke with Arsenal chiefs this week and is said to be very keen on taking the job.

The 54-year-old, who was sacked by Valencia in September, guided Los Che to the Champions League in successive seasons and won the Copa del Rey in May.

Recent reports have suggested that Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel is now Arsenal's favourite to assume the position.
