Torino sporting director Davide Vagnati claims that his side cannot afford to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, describing the Gunners' asking price as "too high".

Torino chief Davide Vagnati has claimed that Arsenal's asking price for Lucas Torreira is "too high" for the Serie A outfit to consider making a move for the midfielder.

Torreira quickly made a name for himself in the Premier League upon his arrival two years ago, but the 24-year-old has since fallen out of favour under Mikel Arteta and is yet to feature this season.

The Uruguay international has been strongly linked with a move back to Serie A, but Torino sporting director Vagnati has since ruled his side out of the running to sign Torreira.

"Torreira is a top player but his price is too high," Vagnati said in quotes attributed to football.london. "It's difficult to sign him from Arsenal, not just for us."

Torreira, who is contracted to Arsenal until 2023, has turned out 89 times for the Gunners in all competitions since arriving from Sampdoria in 2018, notching up four goals.

Atletico Madrid are also believed to be keeping a close eye on developments amid Arsenal's reported interest in Thomas Partey.
