Arsenal, who lost 2-1 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, have made their worst start to a league campaign for 39 years.

The London giants, who are 14th in the Premier League table, have won four, drawn one and lost five of their 10 league matches this season, picking up a total of 13 points, which represents their poorest start to a season since 1981-82.

Mikel Arteta's side levelled the scores in the 30th minute of the clash at the Emirates Stadium, with Gabriel cancelling out a strike from Pedro Neto.

Wolves regained the lead through Daniel Podence late in the first period, though, and Arsenal could not find a response in the second 45 minutes as they lost their third successive Premier League home game.

The Gunners have actually been beaten in five of their last eight league matches, while they have picked up just one victory in England's top flight since the start of October.

Arteta's team are next in league action against table-topping Tottenham Hotspur on December 6.
