Top 5 predictions for GW 13 of the Premier League

Liverpool v Arsenal - Premier League
Liverpool v Arsenal - Premier League

The 13th gameweek of the English Premier League is set to take place over the last weekend of November. Chelsea’s clash with Manchester United is the biggest match of the week, but it is not the only fixture worth checking out. There are other Premier League teams and their stars that demand your attention.

Will the favorites prevail or is there a shock or two on the cards? Below are our top five predictions for Premier League GW 13:

#5 Arsenal to return to winning ways against Newcastle United

Arsenal v Leeds United - Carabao Cup Round of 16
Arsenal v Leeds United - Carabao Cup Round of 16

Arsenal made the trip to Anfield to take on Jurgen Klopp’s in-form Liverpool side on matchday 12 of the English Premier League. The Gunners, who were unbeaten in their previous 10 matches leading up to the fixture, were outclassed and outplayed by the Reds.

The north Londoners endured a 4-0 defeat in Liverpool and will be desperate to bounce back with a win against Newcastle United this Saturday.

Newcastle United currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table with six points from their 12 Premier League outings. They are the only Premier League team without a single win in the English top-flight this season, and their streak looks destined to continue.

Arsenal have won five of their six home games in the Premier League this season and should have no trouble beating an out-of-shape Newcastle.

Pay close attention to Arsenal stars Alexandre Lacazette and Bukayo Saka. We believe their dribbling skills will come in handy against Newcastle and could propel Arsenal to their seventh Premier League win this season.

#4 Liverpool to comfortably overcome a hapless Southampton side

Liverpool FC v FC Porto: Group B - UEFA Champions League
Liverpool FC v FC Porto: Group B - UEFA Champions League

Goals from Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Takumi Minamino helped Liverpool to a convincing 4-0 win in the Premier League last weekend. In their midweek Champions League outing, they bagged a 2-0 victory over FC Porto, extending their 100 percent record in the competition.

Given their recent performances, calling Liverpool one of Premier League’s most in-form teams will not be an exaggeration. Only a couple of teams can withstand the wrath of Liverpool at the moment, and Southampton are not on that list.

Southampton, who are currently 13th in the Premier League, have only picked up 14 points in the league, scoring 11 goals. They were beaten 2-1 by Norwich City in their last Premier League outing and are unlikely to pose a threat to third-placed Liverpool.

We expect the Reds to score an early goal, dominate proceedings from kickoff and ultimately secure their fourth consecutive win at Anfield.

#3 Harry Kane to get on the scoresheet against Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur v Leeds United - Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur v Leeds United - Premier League

One of Premier League’s most lethal goalscorers, Harry Kane, has endured an unusually quiet start to the campaign this season. The Tottenham Hotspur ace has netted a single goal in the English top-flight, with his solitary strike coming against relegation-threatened Newcastle United.

Despite cutting a frustrating figure in the Premier League, Kane has been pretty impressive in the UEFA Europa Conference League. The England captain has netted four times in as many matches, emerging as Spurs’ standout performer. We believe the striker will finally carry over his continental form to his country’s top league.

Premier League gameweek 13 will see seventh-placed Spurs take on 18th-placed Burnley. The Lilywhites are desperate to climb up the Premier League table and we are backing Kane to set the course this week.

#2 West Ham United to make Manchester City work for three points

West Ham United v Liverpool - Premier League
West Ham United v Liverpool - Premier League

Almost every Premier League campaign witnesses the rise of an underdog. They play impressive football, have a star player or two, and tend to get positive results against some big teams. West Ham United have been the undisputed high-flying underdogs in the Premier League this season. The east London outfit have punched above their weight multiple times and we will not put it past them to do it again this Sunday.

West Ham have beaten Leicester City, Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Liverpool across various competitions this season. The 3-2 win over Liverpool in the Premier League was particularly impressive, as it ended the Reds’ 25-match unbeaten run. The Hammers’ win over Manchester City came in the Carabao Cup on penalties, right after their 2-1 win over United at the tournament.

Expecting West Ham to beat Manchester City on Premier League matchday 13 is probably a bit of a stretch. However, we do expect the visitors to make the defending Premier League champions work for the win. City’s unabashed quality should eventually help them overpower the Hammers, but it is unlikely to be a walk in the park.

#1 Chelsea to get a hard-fought win over Manchester United

Chelsea FC v Juventus: Group H - UEFA Champions League
Chelsea FC v Juventus: Group H - UEFA Champions League

Chelsea and Manchester United have gifted us with some iconic Premier League clashes over the years. On Sunday, the two are looking to add another chapter to their story at Stamford Bridge.

From the outside, Chelsea’s form in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League points towards a straightforward win for the hosts. Unfortunately for the Blues, football is more than simple statistics and form guides. It is the unquantifiable that makes the game interesting.

Manchester United, who were comprehensively beaten by Watford last week, bounced back with an impressive 2-0 win over Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday. They are seeking relevancy in the Premier League and a win over the league leaders is the perfect way to make headlines.

The Red Devils are expected to give their all against Chelsea and could make it a difficult night for the Blues at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s in-form stars should eventually swoop in and correct the course, but it is unlikely to be an easy win for the reigning Champions League winners.
