Arsenal 'identify Raul de Tomas as centre-forward target'

Espanyol centre-forward Raul de Tomas emerges as a transfer target for Arsenal, according to a report.

Arsenal's search for a new centre-forward could reportedly lead to them making a move for Espanyol's Raul de Tomas before the end of the January transfer window.

The Gunners have seemingly missed out on a deal for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, with the Serbia international thought to be closing in on a move to Juventus.

Luka Jovic, meanwhile, will reportedly not be allowed to leave Real Madrid, and the North London club now have less than a week to bring a new attacker to the Emirates Stadium this winter.

According to AS, De Tomas has emerged as a target, with the Spain international enjoying an impressive campaign for his La Liga club.

The report claims that the Gunners have recently scouted the forward, who has a €70m (£58m) release clause in his current deal with Espanyol.

The 27-year-old has scored 12 times and registered two assists in 21 La Liga appearances during the 2021-22 campaign, while he has netted 40 goals and provided five assists in 76 outings for the Catalan club in all competitions.
