Ian Wright has urged Arsenal to make a move and sign a player in the left-back position.

The Gunners have seen their push for four trophies go mostly down the drain this season. While they were knocked out of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup earlier on, they were widely expected to go further in the Champions League and Premier League.

However, they were knocked out of the continental competition by Bayern Munich, after a lone goal from Joshua Kimmich sealed the deal for the Bavarians in the second leg. In the Premier League, they endured a shock 0-2 loss to Aston Villa, which has left Manchester City sitting at the top of the table.

The Gunners now look set to finish this season trophyless, especially if other results in the Premier League don't go their way.

There have been debates and conversations surrounding what Mikel Arteta would need to do in the summer, so as not to endure the same trophyless situation next season. As for Ian Wright, the problem sits at the left-back position.

Speaking on The Wrighty's House Podcast, the Arsenal legend explained (via TBR Football):

“It’s another season where we’ve gone so far, but it’s not over for us. That’s how I feel at the moment, we’re inexperienced, we’re short, he has to do something about that left-back spot."

The Gunners notably signed Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City in 2022, and he looked to elevate the position for them. However, neither the Ukrainian international nor his deputy, Jakub Kiwior, have done enough to please Ian Wright this season.

Mikael Silvestre urges Arsenal to promise Bayern Munich stalwart playing time and sign him

With Arsenal struggling to meet expectations this season, their potential transfer business has become the talk of the town. They have been linked to signing Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich this summer, although the versatile defender was the reason they were knocked out of the Champions League.

The 29-year-old has only one year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena, and it looks as though he could leave, with talks seemingly stalling.

Now, Mikael Silvestre has pushed for the Gunners to convince Joshua Kimmich with game time, while making their move for him. Speaking to bettingexpert.com, the former defender said (via Football London):

“He's been an established top player for Bayern since he was young and he’s a top professional. He would play at Arsenal but if you bring him in you need to make sure he plays.”

With Kimmich capable of playing at full-back, defensive midfield, and central midfield, Mikel Arteta should not have too many issues regarding where to place him.
