Report: Edinson Cavani, Arsenal deal not dead

Arsenal have a "tiny glimmer of hope" of signing Edinson Cavani before the transfer window closes, according to reports.

Arsenal reportedly still have a "tiny glimmer of hope" when it comes to securing a deadline day deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

Speculation is rife that manager Arsene Wenger flew to Paris this morning to tie up a deal for the Uruguay hitman and his teammate midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

Negotiations over both switches are thought to have broken down, with the Gunners refusing to meet les Parisiens' £50m valuation of Cavani.

However, Wenger is still keen on the former Napoli marksman and will do his utmost to seal a deal in the final three hours of the window, according to the Daily Mail.

Goalkeeper Petr Cech has been Arsenal's only signing of the window thus far, with Olivier Giroud their only recognised striker.

Cavani scored twice as PSG thumped AS Monaco 3-0 at Stade Louis II on Sunday.
