Thierry Henry: 'Arsenal needed more players to challenge for Premier League'

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry believes that the Gunners needed to sign more players this summer in order to challenge for the Premier League title.

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has claimed that the Gunners needed to sign more players this summer to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title.

Arsene Wenger did not sign any players on transfer deadline day, meaning that the only new arrival at the Emirates this summer was goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Henry told Sky Sports News: "Right now [Arsenal] are already five points behind City, still have not won at home, won two games by an own goal, which is actually their best goal scorer at the moment.

"Ideally it does not look right now like they are going to win the league like this. But I think Arsene believes he can win the league with that team and that team is good enough. And that is his prerogative.

"I think he should have tried to bring players and I think he did try, it could not happen, but I still think that team needed some players."

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani were heavily linked with the North London outfit, but neither transfer happened.
