Theo Walcott keen to lead Arsenal attack

Theo Walcott is certain that he can be the leader of Arsenal's attack this season.

Theo Walcott has insisted that he can be the man to lead the Arsenal attack this season.

Arsene Wenger has used both Walcott and Olivier Giroud as a lone striker this season, but the Gunners boss was criticised for not adding to his squad after being linked with Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani.

Despite often being used as a wide attacker, Walcott is still certain that he can make an impact in a central position.

"It's obviously well documented that I want to play up front but there's a lot of competition for places here," the England international told the club's website. "I will do my best in any position when I am given the opportunity to play for this club.

"I will always be judged on goals and assists but I feel like I would score a lot of goals up front.

"I think you'll see a mixture of me playing in those three positions, on the left, right and centre, depending on how the game is and who the opposition is."

Walcott is one of the four strikers in the England squad for the games against San Marino and Switzerland.
