Ray Parlour: 'Arsenal must spend in January'

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour says that the club will have to sign new players during the January transfer window following their injury crisis.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has insisted that the Gunners have to address their injury problems by bringing in new players during the January transfer window.

Manager Arsene Wenger is now without seven first-team regulars after Francis Coquelin and Mikel Arteta both picked up injuries in the defeat at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Arsenal failed to sign an outfield player during the summer transfer window, but Parlour has said that Wenger must look to make signings in the New Year to avoid a season of disappointment.

"They're really short now," Parlour told talkSPORT. "The injury list is unbelievable; I think they'll have to build an extension on the medical room!

"It's not an easy time to buy players; you don't know who is really available and all the best players will be tied down to their clubs. But if there are some available, especially in that midfield area, I'm sure Arsene will go in the market."

Arsenal take on Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League this evening.
