Mesut Ozil: Arsenal make last-ditch attempt to keep German star with record-breaking deal

Mesut Ozil will be offered a bumper contract to stay with Arsenal.
The Germany international is out of contract at the end of the season and it is thought the Gunners will have to cash in in January or risk losing him for free. The winter window opens in three weeks time and Ozil will then be able to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club. But Arsenal chiefs have reportedly drawn up a contract extension that would make him the highest paid player in the club’s history - above previous legends such as Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.
