The hopes of a nation were dashed on Wednesday night when England were knocked out of the World Cup. There was a sense around the country that Gareth Southgate was going to lead the Three Lions to glory for the first time since 1966. It was not to be, though, as the team were beaten 2-1 by Croatia in extra time of the semi-final clash in Russia. Kieran Trippier was one of the standout players of the tournament for England, and he opened the scoring inside the first five minutes.
