Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka was hauled off at half time, to make way for Lucas Torreira, following a frenetic first 45 minutes at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. In a disastrous opening half hour for the Gunners, which saw Chelsea race to a 2-0 lead as Unai Emery’s men spurned a succession of golden goalscoring opportunities, Xhaka failed to establish any Arsenal control in the centre of the park. The Swiss international’s immobility was cruelly exposed by the swift, concise movements of Chelsea’s midfield trio.
