World Cup Watch: Miedema breaks goalscoring record

Seven of our stars were in World Cup action on Friday and Saturday. Read on to find out how they fared for their respective countries. Vivianne Miedema became Netherlands’ all-time leading scorer on Saturday after striking twice in a 3-1 win over Cameroon. Our 22-year-old striker opened the scoring with a powerful header in the 41st minute, but less than two minutes later, Gabrielle Onguene equalised following a mix-up at the back. Former Gunner Dominique Bloodworth then went on to restore Netherlands’ lead with a tap in, before Miedema stormed into the box and fired past Annete Ngo Ndom, breaking Manon Melis’ previous record (59) and sealing all three points.  Danielle van de Donk...
