Arsenal out to hijack West Ham's £30m Lingard move after failed Man Utd approach

Arsenal plan to hijack West Ham’s bid to sign resurgent England star Jesse Lingard this summer. The Gunners were keen to take the Manchester United forward, 28, on loan in January but eventually lost out to the Hammers. But that was more down to the Reds’ reluctance to hand Arsenal, who were perceived the greater threat in the Premier League, any sort of help at the time. Ironically, it is now the Hammers involved in the battle for the top four - thanks to Lingard’s six goals in eight league games - while Arsenal are slumped in mid-table.
