Jens Lehmann sacked by Hertha Berlin following leaked racist comment to pundit

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has been sacked from his position on Hertha Berlin’s board after sending a racist WhatsApp message to pundit Dennis Aogo. Aogo, who works as a pundit for Sky Germany after retiring as a player last summer, posted a screenshot of the message on Instagram, in which Lehmann refers to him as a “token black guy”. Along with the screenshot, the former Germany star wrote: “Wow are you serious? The message was probably not meant for me.” Lehmann, who was a member of Arsenal’s famous 2003/04 Invincibles squad, took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to apologise.
