Arsenal outcast Lucas Torreira has lifted the lid on his decision to join Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal this summer. Torreira returned to the Emirates at the end of last season after a loan spell with Atletico Madrid, who were not interested in bringing him back to Spain this term. And having been deemed surplus to requirements by Mikel Arteta in north London, the Uruguay midfielder set his sights on a move away from the Gunners in the summer transfer window. Fortunately he managed to secure that desired transfer just under a week before the market closed, joining Fiorentina on another loan deal in 2021/22.
