Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola once 'wanted to join Arsenal', but was turned down by Arsene Wenger. Prior to becoming one of the world's best managers, Guardiola also enjoyed a fruitful playing career which saw him play in Spain, Italy, Qatar and Mexico. Although he never played for a club in England, he had hoped to join Arsenal back in 2001 and even set up a meeting with Wenger to discuss a potential move. He would also come close to arriving in this country four years later when he almost joined Wigan Athletic but again a move did not materialise.
