Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes West Ham's additional preparations with Europa League competition contributed to their 2-0 win over the Gunners. Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker accepts the side only have themselves to blame for their nightmare start to the Premier League season but that perhaps it was just what the squad needed to refocus for the battles ahead.
