The future of Alexis Sanchez has been subject to intense speculation

What's the story?

Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez has continually been linked with an exit from the Emirates. The Chilean's contract is running out next year and with Sanchez giving no indication that he wants to extend his contract, top clubs around Europe like PSG, Real Madrid and Manchester City have all been circling for Sanchez's signature.

After the signing of Mbappe, PSG have reportedly pulled out while Madrid and City still remain keen on his signature. Now, according to reports in the Mirror, Sanchez has made up his mind over his Arsenal exit and has chosen Manchester City ahead of Real Madrid as his future destination.

The 28-year-old forward was expected to make the move in the summer transfer window, but with Arsenal holding firm, the Gunners might lose their star player on a free transfer to their Premier League rivals.

In case you didn't know...

Alexis Sanchez has previously worked with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona and the Chilean is reportedly a huge fan of the Spanish manager. Capable of playing on the wings and as a false 9 when required, Sanchez's pace, desire, dribbling skills and his never say die attitude look tailor made for Guardiola's demands.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, are looking to revamp their forward line and with Gareth Bale not living up to expectations, Los Blancos are expected to swoop in for Sanchez in January and make a bid of close to £50 million.

The heart of the matter

With Arsenal all but resigned to losing Sanchez, the offer of Real Madrid might prove to be tempting as they can recoup close to £50 million instead of losing him on a free. However, Sanchez seems determined to play under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City he will be able to sign a pre-contract with the Citizens in January.

Also, Sanchez being a former Barcelona player is not keen to turn out for Los Blancos although Perez is determined to make a bid and land a world class player in the January transfer window.

While selling Sanchez to Real Madrid might be a better option for Arsenal, the Chilean's mind seems made up and Guardiola will be confident of getting the best out of Sanchez and challenge for the Champions League title next season.
