Reports: Barcelona to beat Arsenal to €48 million striker in January

Barcelona need a striker, don't they!

What's the story?

After seeing Luis Suarez flounder about like a fish stranded on land - whatever happened to the great Uruguayan, alas we must leave that analysis for another time - Barcelona are ready to take the plunge and purchase a striker, a genuine no.9, the kind that eats, sleeps, and dreams goals - and they are ready to give Arsenal more pain along the way.

It had been reported earlier by the good folk over at the Sun that the beleaguered Gunners had been actively looking to bring a disgruntled Andre SIlva to London from AC Milan - the Portuguese is reportedly unhappy with the way Vincenzo Montella is going about his business over at the San Siro. Just when Arsenal fans thought they had something to smile about, the same folk over at the Sun are now reporting that Barcelona have thrown their hat into the ring, and are confident of luring the promising young striker to the Camp Nou come January.

In case you didn't know

With Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil having one foot out of the door, it appears the Londoners had been planning for the future with Andre Silva - who, though yet to score in the Serie A (due to a lack of playing time), has bagged six goals in three matches in the Europa League and has looked sharp everytime he has had some decent playing time for both Milan and his national side Portugal.

The heart of the matter

Milan bought SIlva for around €37 million earlier this, along with ten others (TEN!) but it is understood that the Rossoneri have fallen into huge debt and may be forced to sell some of their superstars and even if they get an expected €10 million profit, it may not be what the Milan fans had been craving for

Author's Take

He may not look the perfect Barcelona player, but maybe a change is exactly what the Catalans need up top, eh, to relieve the massive pressure Lionel Messi finds himself under everytime he steps onto the field!
