Europa League 2017/18: Arsenal 6-0 BATE Borisov, Player Ratings

Arsenal continued their fine run in Europe with a 6-0 win against Belarusian side FC BATE Borisov thanks to goals from Mathieu Debuchy, Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere, Olivier Giroud, Mohamed Elneny and an own goal.

Arsene Wenger fielded a whole new starting XI for a match that was nothing more than a friendly given his side's qualification into the group stages but still enjoyed a wholesome experience.

Here's how the players fared:

Arsenal

David Ospina - 6/10

A spectator for most of the match. Did had to make one save in the second half but the effort sent the ball straight into his arms.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles - 7/10

Solid performance from the versatile Englishman today. Continues to prove to Wenger and the Arsenal faithful that's he's knocking on the door of the first team sooner rather than later.

Rob Holding - 7/10

Got beaten a couple of times but held his ground overall alongside English youth partner, Calum Chambers.

Calum Chambers - 7/10

Marshalled the defence on the night. He was yelling, pointing and instructing. A proper performance and much needed after recovering from his injury.

Mathieu Debuchy - 8/10

A complete performance from the Frenchman. Kept a clean sheet, did his job and got a goal.

Danny Welbeck - 6.5/10

Not the best of games but he is coming back from a lengthy spell on the sidelines. At times, it looked like he was trying too hard to impress the boss when he should've set up goals.

Mohamed Elneny - 8/10

Good all-around performance from the Egyptian. Defended when needed and got himself a cracker of a goal in the second half.

Francis Coquelin - 8/10

Prowled all night long with tackles, setting up marks and creating chances. Didn't do anything unnecessary and got himself in good positions throughout the game.

Theo Walcott - 8.5/10

Was super sharp for the 60 or so minutes he was on the field. Always looked for that one-two with his teammates on the field and tucked away a chance when it presented itself to him in the first half.

Jack Wilshere - 9/10

Arsenal's best player on the field. A goal, an assist and five key passes meant he was the go-to man everytime Arsenal had the ball in the opposition third.

Olivier Giroud - 8/10

Took his penalty well, twice, and had a good understanding with his link-up play with Walcott, Giroud and Welbeck. Should be contention to start against Southampton on the weekend.

Substitutes

Reiss Nelson - 6/10

Didn't do much since coming on. Looks like a kid void of confidence.

Joe Willock - 6/10

Didn't have much time to show his true talent. Hopefully, the busy Christmas period will present him with a few more chances at the centre of the park.

Eddie Nketiah - 6/10

Came on to a rapturous welcome and heard his name every time he touched the ball but, like the other two who came on, he just didn't have the time to get into his game.

BATE Borisov

Denis Scherbitski - 5/10

His reaction to save a deflected Danny Welbeck effort was the only thing to go his way tonight. His defence didn't help one bit.

Maksim Volodko - 5/10

Beaten too easily and too often by a driven Theo Walcott. Also happened to be the only player in the game to be booked.

Nemanja Milunovic - 5/10

Had Giroud contained for most of the game but didn't read the Frenchman's intentions with those cute little balls though.

Denis Polyakov - 5/10

It was perfectly set up. The winger had the ball, he saw the intention, timed his run and when the opportunity presented itself, he tucked it away beautifully. A stunning (own) goal that got the barely-filled Emirates to its feet.

Alexel Rios - 6/10

Probably the only defender who wanted to do some form of attacking when possible. Struggled with getting past the half-way line though.

Stanislav Dragun - 5.5/10

One of the better performers of the game for the side from Belarus and did get one key pass to his name.

Yevgeniy Berezkin - 6/10

Probably BATE's best player with his control of the ball in midfield. Kept Coquelin busy and won all of his 9 duels in the centre.

Igor Stasevich - 5/10

Was dispossessed nearly everytime he got the ball into the Arsenal third but did work more than his teammates to create something that resembled a chance.

Mirko Ivanic - 5/10

Couldn't do much playing as the #10 on the field given his forwards were missing but did string together a couple of chances and worked hard to push the ball forward.

Mikhail Gordejchuk - 5/10

Took advantage of Maitland-Niles' eagerness to bomb forward with his positioning on the field but couldn't create much from them throughout the game.

Vitali Rodionov - 5/10

Must've been glad as he was taken off given Calum Chambers and Rob Holding contained him ruthless all throughout.

Substitutes

Nikolai Signevich - 6/10

Came on early in the second half and played mostly on the right trying to drift in. Did cause a few problems for Arsenal.

Jasse Tuominen - 6/10

Was asked to get at Arsenal's defence in a more direct fashion but just didn't have enough time to find his rhythm.

Evgeni Yablonski - 6/10

Wasn't long enough on the field to have an impact.
