All the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Saturday, January 20.

Arsene Wenger is adamant Jack Wilshere will stay at Arsenal - and the Frenchman has hinted he can become the club's permanent captain.

Wilshere is out of contract in the summer and, according to The Sun, the Gunners are offering a new deal which would see the England midfielder take a cut in his basic pay but include greater incentives if the 26-year-old stays fit.

"I see Jack staying because he is an Arsenal man," Wenger said. "He was here at the age of 10 and has some leadership qualities. He has a football brain. He is completely focused on Arsenal.

"The fact he has been away and come back... he realises life here is not so bad, maybe. That is something that is important, that he can be one of the leaders in the future. Who would question his love and commitment for the club? Nobody.

"We have to find an agreement that makes him happy and the wish that in the future he remains fit."
