WHAT HAPPENED

A solitary goal from Beth Mead was enough to see off the challenge of Millwall and seal our progress to the quarter-finals of the Women’s FA Cup.

We came into the game off the back of a confidence-boosting 4-0 win against Yeovil Town, and kept another clean sheet this time out.

After a slow start, the game burst into life after the opening 15 minutes.

Dan Carter couldn’t quite steer home a cross from Lisa Evans, before Carter went close once more when her strike deflected over the crossbar.

Jordan Nobbs spotted Louise Quinn from the corner that followed, but the Irish defender nodded narrowly wide.

Ellie Mason tried her luck from distance for the visitors, but Anna Moorhouse was largely untroubled.

The game’s only goal came in the 32nd minute, when Mead turned away from her marker before sending the ball past Sarah Quantrill in the Millwall goal.

There was further good news in the final quarter of an hour, with Kim Little making her long-awaited return from an injury lay-off.

WHAT IT MEANS

We’re now one of the eight names in the hat for the quarter-final draw, which will take place on Monday evening.

WHAT’S NEXT

We are at home once again on Friday evening, when we take on Everton at Meadow Park. Kick-off is at 7.30pm.
