John-Jules - How Henry influenced me

Tyreece John-Jules sighned his first professional deal with us on Tuesday - and you can find out more about him right here.

The promising forward is enjoying a fine season at academy level and has spoken to Arsenal Player about how childhood hero Thierry Henry developed his game, along with how his parents have influenced his career:

Who’s your favourite all-time player?

My favourite player is probably Thierry Henry. Growing up, I idolised him because I used to follow him and Arsenal.

Were you here when he was coaching?

Yeah, I was here. He only took us for two sessions because I was at Hale End at the time, and then he came up here and started coaching the under-18s.

From those two sessions, what was the biggest thing you learnt from him?

He taught me about movement and timing, and obviously gave me tips on finishing when we did striker drills.

What sort of tips did he give you?

He helped with the timing of my movement and making space for other people.

Were you an Arsenal fan growing up?

Yeah, my mum was an Arsenal fan and I just followed that really.

Who’s had the biggest influence on your career so far?

Probably my dad. He was a footballer too, nothing serious, but he used to play around and he brought me up as a footballer as well, so I’ll say my dad.
