Europa League favourites Atletico Madrid eased past Sporting Lisbon 2-0 in the first leg of their quarter-final.

Koke put the 2012 winners ahead in the Spanish capital after just 22 seconds and Antoine Griezmann's 24th goal of the season put Diego Simeone's men on the brink of a fifth European semi-final in his seven seasons in charge.

Lazio also stayed on course to progress after an action-packed 4-2 home win over Salzburg in their quarter-final first leg.

The Italians ended Salzburg's 35-game unbeaten run stretching back to August after the visiting Austrian side twice drew level but were undone by quickfire late goals from Felipe Anderson and Ciro Immobile.

Red Bull Leipzig will head to Marseille in their second leg with a 1-0 advantage. Germany's Leipzig, playing in European competition for the first time, put themselves in a good position to progress after a Timo Werner goal on the stroke of half-time sank the French side.
