Roma sporting director Monchi rules out the possibility of Patrik Schick leaving the club on loan in January, despite reports of a possible swap deal for Aaron Ramsey.

Roma sporting director Monchi has ruled out the possibility of Patrik Schick joining Arsenal on loan as part of a swap deal for Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey's contract at the Emirates Stadium expires at the end of the season and the midfielder could leave the club as early as January, having been told that he will not be offered an extension.

Reports suggested that Arsenal could look to sign Schick on loan in January as a replacement for Danny Welbeck, who is expected to miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

Ramsey would have moved in the opposite direction on a free transfer as part of that deal, but Monchi has insisted that Schick will not be leaving the Stadio Olimpico.

"Schick? We have confidence in him, he won't leave on loan," Monchi told Gianluca Di Marzio.

The likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Juventus and AC Milan have all been linked with moves for Ramsey, who will be free to discuss terms with foreign clubs from January.
