Pre-Match Report

Millwall v Arsenal - The Brief

Van de Donk

We have the opportunity to finish top of Group D on Wednesday night when we face Millwall Lionesses in the Continental Tyres Cup.

THE STORY SO FAR

We’re currently top of the table on nine points having won each of our opening three fixtures.

We kicked off our campaign with a 3-1 win over West Ham with goals from Katie McCabe and Beth Mead, before beating Lewes 9-0 and Charlton 5-0.

Miedema scored a hat-trick against Lewes and a brace against Charlton, meaning she’s currently our top goalscorer in the competition.

Only Chelsea (20) have scored more goals than us (17) in the group stage, but we have a game in hand.

Mathematically, West Ham could take top spot via goal difference in their final group-stage outing, but that would only be possible if we slip to defeat.

THE OPPOSITION

Millwall head into this fixture at the bottom of Group D, having failed to win any of their three outings in the competition so far.

The Lionesses were beaten 4-2 in their opening group stage encounter, before failing to trouble Lewes and West Ham in 3-0 and 4-0 defeats respectively.

Gabriella Ravenscroft and Evie Clarke scored their only two goals in the competition so far.

ONE TO WATCH

After making her full debut for the club in our last Continental Tyres Cup clash, Amelia Hazard will be desperate to score her first senior goal.

The youngster showed great understanding with Miedema in the final third against Charlton - and she almost found the back of the net after narrowly firing wide on the stroke of half-time.

With qualification already guaranteed, Montemurro is keen to hand opportunities to our academy stars on Wednesday night.
