Arsenal, under Unai Emery, have so far looked a good attacking unit. However, they don't look convincing in defense. Arsenal need reinforcements at the back, in the midfield and the right wing spot as they look to continue their rise under new management and push for a top-4 spot.

If there is an obvious position in which the Gunners need improvement, it is the center-back spot where Mustafi and Sokratis have been really really poor so far. Monreal and Koscielny have been on the sidelines for the majority of the season with injuries leaving Arsenal short of backups.

In the center midfield spot, Xhaka has not been convincing and with the possibility of Ramsey leaving on a free transfer next summer, the Gunners really need a midfield powerhouse. Coming to the right wing, Arsenal don't have a right winger as Iwobi likes to start from the left and Mkhitaryan, Ozil suited to play more of a central role.

Here are the three signings that Arsenal should make in January.

#1 Dayot Upamecano

Upamecano is currently playing for RB Leipzig and is one for the most promising defenders in Europe. He is young, physically imposing and is very athletic. Dayot is an aggressive center-back who loves to thrive in challenges. He, however, is not a finished product and more adapted to play in three-man defense. Emery can transform him into one of the best center halves in the world.

In terms of stats in the Bundesliga this season, Dayot has won 64.29% of his tackles, completed 14 tackles, won 68% of his aerial duels and has a passing accuracy of 82%. He has made 30 interceptions and won 59% of his total duels.

#2 Abdoulaye Doucoure

Doucoure currently plays for Watford in the Premier League. The 26-year-old is a powerhouse in the middle and has been the pivot of Watford's attack this season. He fits Arsenal perfectly as the Gunners need a midfielder who is aggressive and breaks up opposition play consistently with his interceptions. The French mid-fielder also chips in with goals and is perfect to partner Torreira in the base of the midfield in 4-2-3-1.

In terms of stats in the Premier League this season, he has a pass accuracy of 82%. He has scored three goals and provided five assists. Defensively, he has won 51% of his tackles, won 55% of his aerial duels, made 16 interceptions and 30 clearances.

#3 Nicolas Pepe

Pepe currently plays for Lille in Ligue 1 and is their top goal scorer this season. The Ivory Coast forward likes to cut inside from the right much like Mohammed Salah of Liverpool. He is quick, mobile, good on the ball and has a natural instinct of finding himself in goal scoring positions. The 23-year-old is young and can prove to be a long term solution for Arsenal at the right wing position.

In terms of stats in the Ligue 1 this season, Pepe has scored 12 goals and provided five assists. He has a passing accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 62%. Pepe averages a dribble every 22 minutes and has provided an impressive 16 crosses from the right.
