U-16s: Arsenal 2-5 Chelsea - How it happened

WHAT HAPPENED

Our under-16s lost in the final of Premier League Cup on Friday night as they were beaten 5-2 by Chelsea at Meadow Park.

We played with great confidence and applied some late pressure, but were ultimately punished by a clinical first-half performance from the Blues.

Lewis Bate broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 16th minute, before Mazeed Ogungbo produced an almost instant reaction, climbing high inside the box to equalise with a powerful header from a corner.

It wouldn’t take long for the Blues to restore their lead, though, as Jamal Musiala fired past Hubert Graczyk in the 29th minute, following some fine combination play with Joe Haigh.

Shortly after there were huge cries for an Arsenal penalty when Billy Vigar was bundled over inside the area, but the referee waved away our claims and just five minutes later, Musiala scored his second - and Chelsea’s third - of the night.

Myles Peart-Harris made it four from the spot on the stroke of half-time.

We were handed a lifeline shortly after the break when Miguel Azeez found the top corner with a stunning strike from 25 yards - but despite some promising play, Chelsea restored their three-goal advantage late on through Jude Soonsup-Bell, ending any hope of a comeback.
