Everton are reportedly leading the race to sign Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck on a free transfer.

Everton have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners to complete the signing of Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck.

The England international has spent the last five seasons at the Emirates Stadium, but the 28-year-old is being allowed to leave the Gunners at the end of his contract.

A number of Premier League clubs hold an interest in the attacker, although the London Evening Standard claims that Everton are the favourites to secure a deal.

The report says that the Toffees are willing to hand Welbeck a pay rise, despite the striker having not played since November 8 due to a broken ankle.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have also been suggested as possible destinations for Welbeck.
