Daley-Campbell and Spencer-Adams can still succeed after leaving Arsenal

Aside from the seven players that were announced as leaving the club yesterday, there were two further individuals who will see their spells at Arsenal come to an end at the conclusion of the month.

Defenders Vontae Daley-Campbell and Bayli Spencer-Adams will be on the lookout for new clubs after they didn’t sign professional terms with the Gunners.

Daley-Campbell, a physically imposing right-back who has been capped by England at youth level, produced some impressive performances for the U18s last season as they won the southern section title.

However, he found his path into the U23 side blocked, with Jordi Osei-Tutu continuing to feature prominently at that level.

Daley-Campbell has been linked with several German sides, while there is also a possibility that he could remain in England as he considers his options.

The 18-year-old is certainly a very talented player, and, although he still requires some improvements defensively, he could have a very bright future ahead of him.

Spencer-Adams, meanwhile, was also impressive for the U18s last season before injury brought his campaign to an early end.

The centre-back was used sparingly in his first season as a scholar, but he stepped up last campaign and made some vital interceptions.

It seemed as if Spencer-Adams had performed sufficiently to earn an extended stay, but that ultimately didn’t transpire as the club chose to release him.

Arsenal’s decision to let Spencer-Adams go was probably mainly due to the fact that Mark McGuinness and Harry Clarke, who forged an excellent partnership at the heart of the defence for the U18s last season, are now ready to step up to the U23s.

We that’s put an end to my dream of having an entire Arsenal 11 full of players with double barrel Surnames!!! Shame ☹️

Remember when it was only the upper class snobs who had double-barrelled names? How times have changed – can’t wait for future weddings where we end up with quadruple surnames.

Yep, good luck choosing which parent they disappoint. Simpler times

Man. Campbell and Adams at the back would be so sweet right now…

Get out while you can, Vontae

Devlin

Vontae is the biggest disappointment for me, in that we were unable to convince him he had a future and a clearly defined path to the first team. It is even more surprising that we couldn’t convince him, while only having one first team right back.

I am hoping Osei Tutu will be given more faith as a back up to Hector. He has to play, he needs a chance so we can determine his readiness.
