'The more I play, the more confident I get'

Emi Martinez had a big part to play in our latest win in the United States.

Our goalkeeper made saves from Dusan Vlahovic and Luca Ranieri in the space of two minutes just before Eddie Nketiah opened the scoring against Fiorentina.

And Martinez kept his clean sheet intact with another smart stop from Riccardo Sottil before half-time.

"The more games I play, the more confidence I get," he told Arsenal.com.

"I managed to keep a clean sheet and me and Bernd played 45 minutes each, both keeping a clean sheet in the win. I'm delighted with that.

"I personally feel great. The team is looking sharp, we're moving the ball really quickly, we're nice and solid at the back, so bring on Real Madrid."

Conditions in Washington DC are likely to be similar to those we encountered in Charlotte - and Martinez admits it was a struggle.

"It was quite hard at the beginning so we thought we needed to be on the ball, move it quickly and I think it was like 37 degrees with 90 per cent humidity," he said.

"We were not prepared for this. We knew it was going to be hot but in the warm-up we thought, 'Wow, this is hot'. But the boys did really well, we kept the ball well."
