Alebiosu showing signs of improvement for Arsenal U18s

Arsenal U18s have found consistency difficult to come by this season, with Ken Gillard’s side having taken just nine points from their first nine league games.

There have been some encouraging individual performances, however, with Ryan Alebiosu amongst those to have caught the eye.

The second-year scholar has often been deployed at right-back but in recent games he has been used on the right wing and has performed impressively.

In the 2-2 draw with Fulham last weekend, for instance, Alebiosu delivered a teasing cross which culminated in Fulham’s Luca Murphy scoring an own goal.

This is a crucial season for Alebiosu’s development as he seeks to prove that he deserves a professional contract at Arsenal.

The youngster has already been called up to the U23 squad – he was an unused substitute against Liverpool in September – and he will hope that he is given chances to impress at that level as the campaign progresses.

Alebiosu isn’t especially strong physically, but he is very quick and relishes taking on opposition defenders.

If he continues to perform to this standard then he has a very good chance of extending his stay at Arsenal.

They preach identity, hard work, talent and a togetherness with the fans of the club, with London by using this local boy. A talented kid is put up to make the fans happy, and once the fans look away, the club basically releases him. I guess our reluctance to consistently check the club on their actions has led to the club becoming the opposite of what they preached in preseason. I guess the advert wasn’t a declaration,… Read more »
