A report claims that Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Sander Berge as Sheffield United have softened their transfer stance.

Sheffield United are reportedly set to lower their demands for midfielder Sander Berge in a possible transfer boost for Arsenal.

The Norway international endured an injury-plagued campaign for the Blades last season, which ended in relegation to the second tier.

Berge is expected to remain in the top flight next season, however, with Arsenal said to hold an interest in the 23-year-old.

As of last month, though, the Gunners had yet to make a formal offer for Berge, likely because of United's £35m asking price.

According to the Sheffield Star, the Yorkshire outfit do not want any transfer sagas to disrupt their preparations for 2020-21, and that could mean softening their stance on Berge.

It is suggested that any interested teams will be allowed to pay for Berge in instalments, while any performance-related add-ons may be scrapped entirely.
