The Premier League has been in existence for almost three decades. During this period, fifty different teams have graced the competition, with six of them featuring in every season of the Premier League since its inception.
Arguably the most competitive football league in the world, the Premier League is also the richest of them all. Over the years, a plethora of world-class players and successful managers have graced the competition.
Seven different teams have won the Premier League, with Liverpool (2020) the latest team to do so. Unsurprisingly, most of these teams feature among the top-scoring teams in the competition.
On that note, here's a look at the ten teams with the most Premier League goals after the eighth matchday of the ongoing 2021-22 season. Without further ado, let's get started:

#10 West Ham United - 1190
West Ham United have been regulars in the Premier League since the 2012-13 season. They have spent only three seasons outside the Premier League since the competition's inception.
The Hammers have never finished in the top four in the Premier League, though, with their best finish of fifth coming in 1998-99. However, they had their best finish in the competition in nearly two decades last season, finishing above the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in sixth place.
They have generally struggled for goals in the Premier League, scoring 50 goals in a season on only six occasions. However, they scored 62 league goals last season, with Michail Antonio and Tomas Soucek netting ten times apiece.
#9 Aston Villa - 1225
Aston Villa were regulars in the Premier League until the 2015-16 campaign when they finished bottom and were regulated.
Three years later, Villa returned to the English top flight. However, they barely escaped relegation, finishing just a place above the relegation zone. Last season, they fared better and finished 11th, in the relative safety of mid-table.
Villa's best finish of second in the Premier League came during the competition's inaugural edition in 1992-93. In recent seasons, they have struggled for goals. Last season, they scored 50 league goals for the first time since 2009-10, when they finished sixth.
#8 Newcastle United - 1343
Newcastle United, just like West Ham and Aston Villa, have missed just three seasons of the competition since its inception. Since two successive second-place finishes in the 1990s, Newcastle have mostly finished in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
After a 10th-place and successive 13th-place finishes since their Premier League return in 2017-18, Newcastle are in the relegation zone right now. That's because after eight games, they are one of three teams without a single win this season.
There is renewed optimism among Magpies fans about a turnaround in the club's fortunes after the club's recent takeover by a Saudi-led consortium.
However, they'll need to score more goals than they concede to stay up in the top flight. Since 2011-12, Newcastle have not scored 50 goals in a Premier League season.
#7 Everton - 1461
Everton are one of six teams that have never endured relegation from the Premier League. But they are not one of the seven teams to have won a title in the Premier League era. In fact, the Toffees' last league success was in 1987, five years before the Premier League era commenced.
During this period, Everton have recorded a best finish of fourth in 2004-05. They have largely finished in the top half of the league table, doing so four times in the last five campaigns.
Despite their lack of league success, Everton have had some good players like Wayne Rooney, Romelu Lukaku and Richarlison play for them over the years. The Toffees look good for another top-ten finish this season, occupying eighth place after eight games.
#6 Manchester City - 1575
Manchester City have been a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League in recent years. That's because they have won three of the last four titles on offer and five of the last ten.
However, that hasn't always been the case for City since the Premier League's inception three decades ago. The Cityzens were in the third tier of English football in 1998-99, and have only been Premier League regulars since 2002-03.
The arrival of Pep Guardiola in 2016 has transformed City's fortunes. The expensively assembled squad broke records and scored goals galore in the Premier League.
That was especially the case in 2017-18 when City breached the 100-point barrier and scored over 100 goals. The Cityzens have scored 100 Premier League goals thrice in the competition's last eight seasons, including twice under Guardiola.
#5 Tottenham Hotspur - 1685
Tottenham Hotspur are one of six Premier League clubs that have never endured relegation from the competition. However, Spurs are yet to win a league title in the Premier League era.
The closest they came to doing so was in the 2016-17 season when they finished behind winners Chelsea. They recorded their best Premier League goal tally of 86 that season. Nevertheless, Spurs have been consistent performers in the Premier League. They have finished in the top ten every season since 2007-08.
Last season, Spurs were the early pacesetters in the Premier League, but they imploded to finish outside the Champions League and Europa League places. This campaign as well, they topped the table after three games.
Five games later, they find themselves fifth in the league table, but look good for another top-ten finish.
#4 Chelsea - 1913
Premier League leaders Chelsea have been one of the most consistent teams in the competition, especially since the turn of the century.
One of six teams never to have endured relegation from the Premier League, Chelsea have won five titles in the competition in the last two decades. They look good to add to that tally as they lead the 2021-22 points table after eight games.
Chelsea are one of four teams to have scored over 1900 goals in the Premier League. The Blues have registered a few records in the Premier League, like fewest goals conceded in a season (15), most home wins in a season (18), etc.
With a decent roster under Thomas Tuchel, the reigning Champions League winners are looking to end their five-year Premier League title drought this season.
#3 Liverpool - 1949
Liverpool are one of seven teams to have won the Premier League title. However, it took almost three decades for the Reds to break their Premier League duck after last winning the English top-flight in 1990.
Liverpool are one of the most free-flowing attacking teams in the Premier League, or for that matter in Europe. In the last nine years, the Reds have scored fewer than 60 league goals in a season only once. They have never finished outside the top eight in any of their 29 previous campaigns in the Premier League.
Liverpool have quality in every position, be it their forwards, midfielders, defenders or goalkeepers. After eight games, they are the only unbeaten team in the English top flight and look set to become the second team to score 2000 Premier League goals.
#2 Arsenal - 1963
Arsenal are one of four teams to have won four Premier League titles. The Gunners have only finished outside the top ten once in the competition.
However, Arsenal's fortunes in the Premier League have been on the decline in recent seasons. They are coming off successive eighth-place finishes and have not finished in the top four since 2015-16.
Their last league triumph (2003-04) came almost two decades ago, but that was a historic triumph. The Gunners went through the entire season unbeaten, a first in the Premier League, earning the moniker 'Invincibles'.
Arsenal made a wretched start to their 2021-22 campaign, losing their first three games. But they have won three and drawn two of their next five to move to the cusp of the top half of the Premier League table.
Goals have seldom been a problem for the Gunners, as they have scored 50 goals in almost every Premier League campaign. With 37 more goals, Arsenal could become the second team to score 2000 Premier League goals, a milestone they could achieve this season.
#1 Manchester United - 2144
Manchester United are a record 13-time winners of the Premier League and hold a plethora of records in the competition.
They are the only team to score over 2000 Premier League goals and achieve a three-peat in the competition, among others. Although their last league title came almost a decade ago, United have assembled a star-studded team led by the returning Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
The Red Devils may have stuttered in recent games. However, they have the personnel and pedigree to end their near decade-long Premier League title drought this season.
