Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has been a liability one too many times and it is time Mikel Arteta moved on from the Switzerland international. Xhaka picked up the fifth red card of his Arsenal career in Thursday's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Anfield. The young Gunners side somehow kept Liverpool out for over an hour to claim a dogged goalless draw.

But it would have been no surprise if Liverpool ran out comfortable winners against the Gunners' 10 men.
Xhaka has been sent off twice this season, the first came in the Premier League visit to Manchester City last August.
Arsenal were 2-0 down at the time and went on to lose by five.
Xhaka also let Arsenal down in the visit of City earlier this month.

The Gunners were leading 1-0 when he gave away a penalty for pulling Bernardo Silva's shirt.
Xhaka came close to leaving Arsenal last summer when Roma showed a strong interest in him.
Eighteen months previous to that, the midfielder almost joined German side Hertha Berlin.
But now the time has come for Arsenal to move on.

The Gunners have an exciting group of youngsters who are seemingly taking the club back onto the right track.
But it has been the experienced players who have let the side down too often this season.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been told he can leave after another breach of discipline off the field.
And now it is time Arteta did the same with Xhaka - but for his on-field discipline.
Carragher rightly said after Thursday's match that Xhaka is preventing Arsenal from moving to the next step.
"It just happens too much now," the Liverpool legend said on Sky Sports.
"He's not a young lad where you think he'll learn from experience.
"He's one of their experienced players and that's the one thing that is stopping Arsenal from making that next step.
"It's never going to change now. We're talking about a guy who has played maybe 250 games for Arsenal. That is a player they have to move on."
Arsenal will not be attempting to sell Xhaka in this window. They have nowhere near enough midfield resources to do that.
But this summer there has to be a major change in the middle of the park.
There will be takers for Xhaka - he starred at Euro 2020 and will have plenty of interest in Europe.
But his time at Arsenal is surely coming towards an end.
Arsenal will need to replace him and Arteta's recent business suggests he will bring in the right player in that position.
