Arsenal target Alexander Isak's Premier League move stance as Gunners 'eye release clause'

ARSENAL are lining up alternatives for Dusan Vlahovic and fancy Isak.

Arteta gives update on Arsenal's transfer plans ahead of Deadline Day

Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak's previous comments about a potential Premier League move have come to light amid links to Arsenal. The Gunners have shortlisted Isak as an alternative in their pursuit of Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic, and the interest could be mutual.

According to David Ornstein in The Athletic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future in north London is uncertain.

However, Arsenal hold doubts about Vlahovic's desire to join and whether they can strike a deal with his representatives.

Therefore, Edu and Mikel Arteta are 'exploring alternative options', including Isak, who has a reported £70million release clause in his contract.

Arsenal also signed Thomas Partey by triggering his release clause but would attempt to pay a lower fee for Isak's services.

"They have six or seven of the biggest clubs in the world, it is a very high level, and of course, one day it would be an alternative.

"Every player wants to be the best version of themselves and reach the highest possible level.

"People will always count the goals, I want to score, but I want to be a modern striker.

"I love playing football, and that means being involved as much as possible. I think that is why Spain has suited me very well."

Arsenal will likely prioritise the capture of a new striker in the summer, given the doubt surrounding Arteta's current options.

Aubameyang's status has deteriorated, whilst Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in June.

The Gunners have also identified Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin as an alternative if Vlahovic turns down a move.

It's bound to be an interesting year in the transfer market for Arsenal, and Isak is firmly on the club's radar.
