Dejan Kulusevski may struggle to win over Tottenham fans amid Arsenal and Chelsea fondness

DEJAN KULUSEVSKI may have some explaining to do if he joins Tottenham before Monday's deadline.

Dejan Kulusevski: Man Utd target shows skills for Parma

Tottenham have turned their attention to signing Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski after missing out on Adama Traore and Luis Diaz. However, Kulusevski's fondness for both Arsenal and Chelsea could make his transition to English football difficult at Spurs. Arsenal have also been linked with the Sweden international.

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is keen to add to his squad before Monday's transfer deadline.

But they are set to lose out on Traore and Diaz, with the two stars set to join Barcelona and Liverpool, respectively.

Kulusevski is their next target and Juve appear willing to let the player leave.

The Athletic claim Spurs are trying to sign the 21-year-old on loan with either an option or obligation to buy in the summer.

Spurs' managing director of football Fabio Paratici is said to be a big fan of Kulusevski having signed him when at Juve.

But Tottenham supporters may not look upon a potential deal with great excitement.

That is because Kulusevski previously proclaimed to be a supporter of north London rivals Arsenal.

Speaking on Swedish podcast Lundh in October 2019, the winger said the Gunners were the team he admired the most.

Kulusevski said: "My favourite team is Arsenal, because I like everything about the club, the city, the players and the way they play football."

If that wasn't bad enough for Tottenham fans, it appears Kulusevski also has an allegiance to Chelsea.

Twitter account @bankruptspurs pointed out on Friday that Kulusevski has previously posted an image on Instagram of his younger self at Stamford Bridge.

A fresh-faced Kulusevski can be seen wearing a Chelsea tracksuit top.

He also posted a video on Instagram in October 2014 of himself celebrating an Eden Hazard penalty for Chelsea, wearing the same jacket.

If Kulusevski does finalise a move to Spurs, it would not be the first time a fan of a rival club has signed for them in the recent past.

Matt Doherty arrived from Wolves in the summer of 2020 for a fee of around £14.7million.

The Republic of Ireland international was forced to delete a number of tweets that Arsenal fans had dug up where he appeared to be supporting the Gunners.

Tweets such as "I love Arsenal forever and ever and ever," and "Arsenal are going to run riot tonight #Gunners" were seen on the wing-back's account.

Spurs poked fun at the awkward moment, filming Doherty deleting the tweets after he had signed for the club.
