Eddie Nketiah says some words

Efficient in front of goal and efficient with his words; that’s Eddie Nketiah for you.

After scoring his second goal of the season in his second start to help Arsenal’s second string to a second win of the Europa League campaign – a 3-0 stroll in the park against Bodo/Glimt – our second striker faced the BT Sport cameras.

It was a riveting 90 seconds.

On the win…

It was a good win and nice to have a European night in front of our fans. I think the atmosphere was electric, great today. It’s nice to get the win and get the three points and go top.

On his goal…

Yeah, it was nice. It was a good strike by KT, I was just alert, it fell for me and I took the chance.

On energy dropping after the break…

I think they started well in the second half. We dominated the first half and dropped it a little bit in the second and then picked it up towards the middle and end.

On hoping his goals will earn him a Premier League start…

It’s a good start getting two wins and two goals. I’m just going to try and keep doing what I can, keep pushing and hopefully kee scoring and helping the team.

On Bodo/Glimt’s threat ahead of next week’s return leg…

It’s going to be a tough game, you can see the way they want to play, they always want to play out from the back, they’ve got good players on the ball and they made it difficult for us at times. We’ve got the Premier League to focus on first [against Liverpool] but then we’ve got a tough game.

On Arsenal’s squad depth…

It’s important, everyone is going to play their role, so we’ve got to keep fighting, pushing each other and be ready so we can keep winning.

Cold but fair Mr Allen

I like the positivity, Eddie wants what is best for the team.

That was a nice goal.

Over all it was a great result. 2nd half we started slow but we got back into the game. One area I was not impressed by was our goalkeepers kicking and distribution. He looks like a Sunday league keeper when he is trying to pick a long pass. Hopefully he will improve.

If I remember correctly, when Turner came to Arsenal, he knew he wouldn’t be first choice, but wanted to learn how to use his feet better. I’m sure it’s being worked on a lot in training.

The Beast

Seen some others point out the same thing. Apart from 1 or 2 moments where he looked like he had less time on the ball than he wanted, I thought he was solid. He also found the full backs on the flanks pretty regularly.

Who knows, could just be I wasn’t paying much attention.

I thought the same- with ‘ball at his feet’ literally, he was actually pretty solid. Some nice footwork to play a ball between the pressing attackers. But his longer kicking was really pretty awful at times.
If one of the two could be solid, I think that’s the better way round. Sure he’ll improve his kicking- if he was panicking under pressure (a la Runarsson) would be more of a concern. I quite like him, no idea why! Probably just general positivity getting all the players a bit of extra leeway.

I don’t need riveting. It’s what brought the Titanic down after all.

He seems to combine pretty effectively with Jesus too!

Jesus loves you all

I just love “We’ve got Liverpool first and then we’ve got a tough game”.

I hope that Herr Klopp read that and choked on his cornflakes.
